Listen to a little bit of Kickin Country:

Kickin Country - Today's Best Country on KIKN FMWebsite: www.kikn.com

Kickin’ Country - A Friendly little community in the Heart of the Heartland.

Three words say it all.  Today’s Best Country.  When you turn on Kickin’ Country you know what you’re going to get:

Today’s Best Country music plus a look through the “lens” of what’s going on and what’s happening in the little corner of the world we call Kickin’ Country.

Kickin’ Country aims its songs, sounds, and 100.000 watt signal at anyone and everyone from aged 12 to 99.  The reason it works?  The Music.  Kickin’ Country’s music speaks to all ages.  Sharpen the focus of the station, and marketing experts might say our aim is 18-49 year old women and men.    They might be right, but try and tell that to that 19 year olds’ Grandmother whose favorite station is Kickin’ Country and you might get an argument.  You might then, too, more fully understand the reach and scope of what Kickin’ Country really is.

At Kickin’ Country our jocks think eyes and ears before mouth.  They know the imperative importance of eyes and ears.   It’s with their eyes and ears that we see and hear what’s going on in Kickin’ Country.  With the aid of cell phones we have hundreds (if not thousands) of potential reporters-personalities that have access to Kickin’ Country with information and stories about what’s really happening.  Stations that are constantly Voice-tracked or that rely on Satellite for broadcast simply can’t compete.

When we are doing our job correctly, Kickin’ Country is NOT a radio station.  Rather, Kickin’ Country is a Community.  It’s a special group of people within towns from Wagner to Watertown; from Luverne to Puckwanna; Elk Point to Alpena all with similar values, beliefs and a commonality that comes in the form of a LOVE for Kickin’ Country Music.

Listeners start the day with The Big Breakfast.  Dan, Melissa and Brian make up Kickin’ Country’s Big Breakfast.  From Dumb news, to must know weather and information, the Big Breakfast has made morning radio a simple science.  Stop by their lab weekday mornings from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and see what they see and hear when they look through the lens aimed at the Community that is  Kickin’ Country.

Some radio Stations call 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Mid-day.  At Kickin’ Country, we know it’s really work time.  Because of that the focus is more on the music.  The only exception is the Kickin’ Country Café, when listeners get to call in requests and dedications.  It’s also JD Collins’ opportunity to “listen” what people are doing in their part of the Community we call Kickin’ Country. Where they’re going for lunch and more likely where they’re running errands.

Jammin’ Jay Williams has provided Kickin’ Country listeners with a friendly sound for over 11 years.  LeDoux at Two, The Impossible Question and Kickin’ Happy Hour (another request show) are staples in Kickin’ Country’s line up that, when asked, any listener can tell you about. Most often though you can hear Community Members calling in with anything from information on an accident on 41st street to a happening in Platte.

Barry Roberts handles the After Hour Hours on Kickin’ Country.  Fun Contests and an upbeat sound fill the airwaves all night long.  The Kickin’ community keeps buzzing at night with teens studying and Mom’s and Dads trying to relax…or maybe listening while they work a part time job.

Blair Garner and After Midnite have been on the Station since Dirt.  Really.  Since we started things Kickin’ some 11 years ago.

Kickin’ Country.  It’s more than music and commercials and a bunch of blowhard 80’s radio bull.  It’s eyes.  It’s Ears.  It’s Commonality.  We love what we do and do what we love.  .  We love where we live. We love Kickin’ Country.
